Color In Winona

This happy bird mural was created by Sarah Johnson, Winona's Creative Laurette.

A very fun family lives here with active children who have great imaginations.

Wander around the friendly streets of the East End of Winona near Sobieski Park and Community Center and you'll find this cheerful, bright mural.

Poets Laureate of Winona, New Book, "Crossings"

The Poets Laureate of Winona, Jim Armstrong, Ken McCullough, Emilio DeGrazia, Nicholle Ramsey published a new book called Crossings.  Their book launch was held at the History Center.  Each poet read a portion from the book.  Nicholle Ramsey was not able to attend; her brother Lucus Ramsey read several of her poems.

Wildflowers and Grasses

This is my prairie front yard in Winona, Minnesota.  This is when the butterfly weed and pale purple coneflowers, echinacea pallida are blooming.  The yellow coneflowers are echinacea paradoxa.

I'm creating a wall art quilt that will feature wild grasses and flowers.  I took a trip out to Prairie Moon Nursery to see some wildflowers growing in mixed plantings and take some pictures.

A sea of pale purple coneflowers and a native sunflower variety.

The light on this afternoon was interesting--sometimes sunny and other times cloud covered.

Cat Naps

Can you cat nap?  I'm not a person who naps easily.  I think that I need to take lesson from my cats.

June 1st rolled around and it was instantly hot in Minnesota.  These cats took full advantage to sleep as much as possible.

My friend's cat.  Life is good when you can sleep in an elevated basket!

Mushrooms in the Woods

Winona, Minnesota has been blessed with rain over the past couple of weeks since early July 2021.  And there are many mushrooms popping up.

These two tiny ones are growing on bark.

This one is growing on soil next to a rock.

Dawn and I out hiking and finding mushrooms and rocks.
