Walks to see Water

Moving my body, getting fresh air, feeling good--all to find some balance in these times of the Corona virus. Here are some images of water walks to Lake Winona and the Mississippi River. I took these photographs a few weeks ago when the ice was almost melted and open water was dancing.

The transparent ice parts are dancing in the waves on Lake Winona.

Seagulls sitting on the ice ledge on Lake Winona with open water in the background.

Mississippi River--misty morning.

Clear and sunny day on the Mississippi--still a bit of ice along the bank.

Sunny walks are my favorite.  I'm finding pleasure in the foggy or cloudy day walks as well.  I bring along a pod cast for listening pleasure or a spoken word story and I'm on my way taking in the beauty of the waters around Winona.  I feel blessed.

Autumn Walks to the River

When the sun is shining on an Autumn day, there is a feeling in my being of great joy.  We've had lots of rain and cloudy weather this year.  I'm still hoping for lots of sun into the change of the season.

Quite happy jack-o-lanterns getting ready for Halloween.
                                            Kicking leaves--a favorite autumn activity.

A dancer filled with joy? A bird on the wing?  What do you see?

Headphones to hear a story as I check out all the beauty around the Mississippi River.

River Walks

It's a little windy on this walk.

We have a wonderful boathouse community that lives on the Mississippi River.  Many live here all  year round.
The river has been very high with all the the snow and rains of the spring.  The earth is still so saturated.

Usually there is land between the tree and the chairs--a bit more than that little strip of sand.

 The wagon bridge

In previous years we could walk under the bridge and come out on land on the other side.  Now it is still filled with water.

When the water goes down a bit more, we'll go paddling our kayaks all around this area. For now I'm happy to walk over here and check out how the water and plants are doing.

Walking Out and About

Moving my body is one of my great passions.  Walking, biking, dancing, paddling and seeing the world in a new way.  I took a walk the other day across the bridge heading out of Winona across the Mississippi River to Aghaming Park, John Latsch Preserve.

The ice bubbles that these rocks formed are quite wonderful.
Here the ice  is breaking up.

The river is still open.

I was going to explore that little spit of land.

Boathouses on the other bank.

Then I saw two pick up trucks driving fast and had a thought, "I wonder if it is hunting season?"        I decided to get moving out of the park in case I was mistaken for a purple deer.
